Evakolenko.com Featured in PDN Photo Annual

So honored to have my website featured in this year's PDN Photo Annual! Thanks sooo soo much to my amazing web designer Daniel Stromborg of The Creative Common Good for doing such a kick ass award winning job! I got nothing but praise for that guy!

Ghosts & Dynamite

I did this really fun shoot for an awesome San Francisco agency called Engine Company 1 a little while back, and what better time to share then when then when the project goes from note worthy, to award winning! It was a four day shoot for Engine Company 1's new agency promotional book and I just got word that the book won a Merit Award from The One Show! I worked closely with Joel Bowers, the Ad on the project, and with help and guidance from CD's Grant Richards and Scott Aal, and many more, all that hard work really paid off!! Congrats to all! Check it out.

You can also find some of the same images on their web site, www.enginecompanyone.com

KNOCK OUT!!!

This is a little collaboration video I edited together. It's a glance behind the scenes at one of my most recent fashion shoots with model Raquel Nave, and stylist Jasmine Hamed. Jasmine shot most of the footage, I shot the boxing footage.. Raquel rocked the vibe, sultry, sexy, anxious.. bad ass chica. You can maybe tell.. we like to have fun. Check out the video on youtube..

So, I am all of a suddenly surprisingly irresistibly love with film editing. I had no idea I has any interest until I did it.. and I am planning on making it my second career. So all of you.. are witness to the beginning. If you care to follow, subscribe to my youtube channel and stay tuned..
there is much more to come.

Campaign For Novartis

A couple months ago, I hoped on a plane and headed to LA for a 2 day shoot for Novartis. Yay dogie pharmaceuticals! Well, the first couple ads just came out so now I can share. I worked with Lynn Campbell, a bomb ass chick producer, whom totaly rocked my shoot, and the lovely Nina Orezzoli Art Director from Colle + McVoy. Nina was really fantastic to work with, knowing exactly what she was looking for from the shoot and super collaberative as well, not to mention fun to hang with! Woo HOO! We had a good wrap night! Thanks for the good times : ) Had really, the most amazing crew, so it was all fun and games.. we just happen to get a lot of work done! You can see some behind the scenes shots and my amazing crew HERE in a previous post. Most images from the shoot will be reviled as the are released, so check back!

Raquel

My dear dear model friend Raquel was in town the other week, to watch her dad's come back boxing match.. and seeing as though it was an opportunity to take some awesomely kickin' shots we rented and hotel room and got to work, well.. not really. Unless you consider drinking and stimulating conversation work. Ha Ha! Jasmine came a long for some wardrobe styling and shot some great video clips which i then turned into a fun little video. You can see the full portfolio on my new fashion website site called my b sides. See portfolio "Raquel" under photography. It's a little slow to load, SORRY..

Brand Spankin' NEW Fashion Portfolio!!

I call em, my b sides, cause they are all extended versions of shoots that can't all fit into my main portfolio, or extra gems that aren't in my book at all... so i hope you all enjoy, cause I am really letting my hair down here and shaking it loose!

Eva Goes SXSW

Recently just took a little trip to South by South West, shooting some more pics for Third Eye Blind.. and I also got to spend a lot of good quality time with my good friend Lila, but regrettably missed a lot of good music while i was working... damn it! Anyhow, here are some random images from the 2 days in Austin.

Raquel Nave

In town from Paris to watch her daddy fight.. we had a chance to hang out. YAY! It had been too long.. I miss that girl! Jasmine, Raquel and I got a room and some budwiser and hung out. Of course for us that means we took some bad ass pictures. This is just a sneak peak form the shoot. I have a lot more work to do and will share once the story is complete. There will also be a little sexy video to go along with.

Paul Nave's Return to Battle

After a ten year break, Paul Nave returned to the ring to beat down younger leaner opponent Mikhail Lyubarsky... and I got free rain to photograph it all! I am actually a BIG fight fan. I am way into MMA, and watch as many UFC title fights as I can, especially when it's GSP in the octagon.. oooh his muscles : ) ANYWAYS.. this was the first live fight I have ever been to, and I loved it.

I have a ton more pics, and larger versions of them in my FB album. I also shot lots of video footage and am currently working on making a cute little boxing vid for you tube. I'm trying to decide on the music right now.. so check back to see that!

The New and Improved Tribe Rock shoot

Here they are! I gave you all a sneak peek a while back, of these shots before I whipped them up in PS. So, duh.. i wanted to share all the finals. They definitely benefit from a little kiss from my wacom tablet. Check em out! Plus I just added them to my official portfolio site as well. Can't wait to shoot more! Thanks again to Jasmine and Ineke! Great job styling!

Altpick Awards

So, this was kind of cool. I entered my website in the annual altpick awards competition and won! What's even cooler, is I won both by the official judges vote and by popular vote.. AND both in second place, so I guess you can't really argue with that then can you. Thanks again to Daniel for making me the awesome-est site ever. You rule!

On the Shoot with Eva Kolenko & Friends

Just a little movie I made from the footage my assistant Amber shot at the Third Eye Blind Shoot. Sorry the res is so low.. I will be posting it on You Tube soon, and that should be higher quality, so check back!

Play vs Work??

Shooting is almost always.. fun, but there are those jobs that really don't seem like work at all. Here is some of the silly-ness that happened on the Third Eye Blind shoot. You can just see the sweat dripping off our brows...
Thanks to everyone who helped! And for the locations we were able to use! All the effort payed off big time! Next, I am off to South By Southwest to shoot more. Yippi!

Kids, Dogs and Koreans

I just got back from a week in LA shooting for Novartis. It was quite an experience shooting small children and dogs all in the same shot. Challenging yes, but a blast, most definitely! It's pretty funny though to realize that a dog can be more easily trained and more obedient than a five year old. HA! Again, I was super lucky and got connected with the best crew EVER. Makes me want to shoot in LA more.

By some strange coincidence my entire photo/digi crew were all Korean.. so that made for some fun running jokes for the week. Lynn Campbell headed up the production and made everything seamless, Jasmine Hamed came out from SF to help out with the styling, and Erik Hillard of Running With Pixels supplied me with an awesome digi tech named John Shin. to see more behind the scenes junk check out my facebook album.
