Backpacking in the Yosemite Backcountry

Took a great little 4 day backpacking trip a month or so ago, spurred on by some very thoughtfull and inspiring birthday gifts I received from my husband. I got a whole little array of adventure gear and a detailed yosemite trail map.. hint hint. We started in Tuolumne Meadows, and headed out the John Muir and then hooked back around on the Rafferty Creek trail. It was really a perfect little nature getaway.. no bear trouble, perfect weather.. all our gear worked out perfectly... aside from my mistake of actually trying to cook macaroni in my new jet boil cup. The thing is intensely hot that the noodles instantly fused to the bottom of it. I thought it was completely ruined but then my Bear Grills survival training kicked in and I figured out that sand works beautifully when there is no scrubby sponge within 15 miles. Good as new!

Second night was the best. Found a little lake up at the top of our climb, with no name and best of all.. no people! Had it all to ourselves.. well us and the hundred million deet resistant mosquitos. We turned in early to avoid the swarm and high tailed it out of there before sunrise. We spent the last night of our trip in a quant historic hotel in Groveland.
